4 groups offer HVAC Training, specialist certification. Numerous examinations can be found in precise areas of technical specialisation. There are differing degrees of difficulty. There are 1 or 2 local and state licensing authorities that require certification, but they're not currently using these certifications for licensing. Many contractors however are using these licenses as a necessity for employing a mechanic. Some makers of HVAC units have started making it a requirement that dealers engineers become certified. Specialists will find having several certifications, will increase their capability to get HVAC Jobs.
Test sites are located across North America and Canada. Exams must be taken in person, and the testing costs vary depending on the certification organisation.
Certifications available:
Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES)
RSES is an association of mechanics and an educational technical society, with chapters found through North America. You need to be a member of RSES to take an exam. RSES is the most difficult certification to get.

– Commercial Refrigeration
– Heating
– Controls
– Domestic service
– Heat pumps
NATE North American Engineer Excellence
NATE states that their certification exams test on 80% of all engineers have to know 80% of the time. NATE demands that those certified with them take continuing technical education conventions or short courses to maintain certification.
NATE offers examinations and certifications in the following areas:
– Air-Conditioning Installation
– Air-Conditioning Service
– Air distribution
– Gas heating
– Heat pumps
– Oil heating
Industry Competency Examination (ICE)
ARI, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute, administers the ICE examination. This is a starter level certification and is often utilized by trade faculties, vocational colleges and community colleges as duty to graduate from HVAC tutorial programs. ICE offers the following certifications.

– Carbon monoxide certification
– Commercial AC certification
– Commercial refrigeration certification
– Electrical heating certification
– Gas heat certification

– Refrigerant 410 A certification.
